I need to find someone or something to help ensure that I use discretion when late-night snacking.  Last night after pizza and beer at Ben & Amy’s I came home and opened the fridge and pantry.  Minutes later I was piling sauerkraut, feta cheese and Cleveland’s Famous Ballpark Mustard onto Wasa fiber crackers.  It should have stopped there, but unfortunately, I proceeded to eat unlikely snack…

I’m in the midst of a redesign. I don’t having a staging site, so things might look a bit screwy for a while. Hopefully it will all be worth it in the end….we’ll see.

Ben called me this afternoon to see if I could run downstairs for 2 seconds. It was an invite to feast my eyes on he and Amy’s kicka$$ new scooter. They got a Buddy 125. It is orange, and tan, and fast and gorgeous. Now I am jealous, and distracted, and likely to join their scooter gang. Someone please save me from myself….

Brutal honesty is probably a virtue, but it often stings like hell.  Like yesterday when Debby suddenly looked at me as if I were a monster who had arrived in Santa Fe to eat her baby.  The culprit was my young, but fast-developing unibrow.  Within a minute, I was in the anything-but-delicate hands of Debby and her pain-inflicting tweezers.  A few tears later, the only sign of the once developing unibrow was a giant red mark where tiny hairs used to live.

I only have myself to blame for all this pain.  It was my idea to drive down here on Friday to meet up with Andy, Debby, baby William, Steve and Angie.  In exchange for the twinges of pain just above the eyes, I’ve experienced insane pleasure right around the belly button.  Debby is the most incredible cook in the greater Santa Fe area.  There has been lots of food, lots of spice, mouth-dripping smiles, and guilt-ridden stomach aches.  Steve suggested we do a pre-visit weigh-in.  I’m hoping to walk away with 5 or fewer new pounds packed onto my backend.  The 5 hour hike yesterday probably helped counteract the food intake a bit, but only a few hours later, I was once again slipping into a food induced coma.

After work yesterday, Jill, Sadie, Phyllis, Rufus and I all took a jaunt up Mt. Sanitas.

Ben insisted on cooking his own birthday meal last night. This worked out well for all of us because the fish tacos he and Amy made threw a flavor party and invited my mouth along. I picked up the most delicious carrot cake ever (except for my Grandmother’s….of course). The theme of the party was Gay Robots. We even had wine coolers in case anyone got thirsty. The night was capped off by passing out on the couch with visions of Melon Splash dancing in my aching head.

One of the things I love about this neighborhood is being able to walk across the street and have breakfast with friends at 8am on a Tuesday morning.

I had another great hike yesterday at Chautauqua. This weekend I did the 1st and 2nd Flatiron trail again. Jill and Phyllis joined Sadie and I this time. The wildflowers are making motions to attack the entire mountain with loveliness and pretty-tude. Meanwhile, a snake threatened to attack my face with sharp fangs and venom. This snake obviously missed the “No Fear” sticker proudly displayed across the back windshield of my 1997 Honda Civic hatchback. Snake - consider yourself warned!
