A horse walks into a bar….

May 12th, 2005

Dear ever-loving and ever-forgiving readers of my blog, I apologize for not posting anything for about a week or so. I have no excuse. This is not to say that ‘there is no excuse’, this is just to say that I am too lazy to come up with one. This same laziness has kept me from doing the very thing I’m doing now…updating my blog.

Its not like nothing is going on in my life.

Nat and I have planted our first herb garden. I bought three packs of tofu tonight…the first tofu I’ve ever purchased. My voice is starting to change. I’ve got spyware on my computer. I finally walk like a normal human being rather than a lopsided mule-donkey. I had dinner with Dave Bennett. I had dinner with AJ Ogilvie. Today I ate two little sandwiches in the exact shape of tennis balls. Anthony Federov, the Ukranian Celin Dion, finally got voted off American Idol (way to go America…and only 12 weeks too late).

Maybe all of these events have made me too busy to blog. I will overcome this though and get back to writing nonsense that I don’t care to spellcheck and you don’t care to read.

75 and sunny

May 7th, 2005

I wasn’t going to plant anything around my house this year. I’m fully admitting that my reason was pure laziness. I didn’t want to fight the crowds for parking at Home Depot. I didn’t want to spend lots of money on something that I would probably end up killing from neglect. Mostly, I didn’t want something else that I had to maintain.

I experienced the same resistance last year. Once again though, I fought the crowds, overbought on soil, planted some gorgeous flowers…and I’m so glad I did.

At the moment, I’m sitting on the back deck, listening to Dan Bern, sipping a cold beer and admiring my green thumb.

Where in the world are all my good friends?

May 4th, 2005

Do you ever look around and realize that most of your best friends have quit their jobs, sold their houses and are traveling to various places around the world? I’m sure it is very common, but this year is the first time that it has happened to me.

Steve and Angie quit their jobs are currently travelling all over Europe.

Meredith and Cindy quit their jobs, sold their house and are now on the first leg of a four leg, year long tour. All legs with odd numbers are Europe…those with even numbers are US.

Dave is tavelling back east from California to spend the summer in VA and Martha’s Vineyard before biking across Spain in the Fall.

AJ just returned from Costa Rica after quitting his Booz Allen job earlier this year to surf in Costa Rica. He is moving to California in 3 weeks to bartend, work construction and generally save as much as he can in order to open a bed and breakfast on the 1/3 acre of beach front property that he just bought in Nicaragua.

Not sure where this leaves me, but it is all very inspiring.

First image of Adam’s knee released to public

May 1st, 2005

The knee is healing. A picture is worth a thousand words (or roughly $50 if anyone is interested in purchasing one). Below is a shot that Nat took of my knee today during our photo expedition at the Tulip Gardens in DC. Tomorrow I start physical therapy….bring on the pain!!!
